It's a vicious cycle - English proficiency is dipping, leading to people using crap English in the mass media, which leads to sinking levels of proficiency.

haritu ternampak satu paper melayu(xsure apa tajuk dia metro ke apa tah tp tabloid), dia tulis something like b'tanding(contoh). i was like, nooooooooo wayyyyyy!!! but nobody believe me. diorang tak percaya paper tulis mcm tu. at least now, SOMEBODY (read as MAYLEE LIM) believe me. SOMEBODY saw it too!
yeah! what's up with newspapers nowadays ar? they're newspapers, they are SUPPOSED to be perfect language-wise!
